Question: Who Can Join a Clinical Trial?
Answer: Every trial will have a list of “inclusion factors.” These factors are characteristics of a person or their illness that the researchers use to decide who gets to participate. For trials testing potential treatments for multiple sclerosis, the type of MS you have, if you have used a certain treatment, the severity of your symptoms and other factors may apply. These inclusion factors are important so that the researchers can compare the patients within the trial to one another to determine the effects of the medication in similar patients.
