Cerebrospinal Fluid

Definition: A clear, colorless fluid which flows around the brain and spinal cord to provide nourishment and protection. It is produced in the ventricles of the brain and is continuously produced and absorbed.

A sample of this fluid is removed during lumbar punctures.
