Definition: A large structure consisting of two halves (hemispheres) in the lower part of the brain, under the cerebrum. It is responsible for the coordination of movement and balance.

In multiple sclerosis (MS), lesions in the cerebellum lead to symptoms which include: cognitive dysfunction, lack of coordination (ataxia), weakness, dysmetria, speech disorders, nystagmus and some types of tremors.
